Computer Wall is a husband-and-wife team in Stony Plain: Patrick at the bench and Marlena keeping the business running behind the scenes, in one dedicated workshop that’s here for the long run.
The team
Two people, one shop.
Patrick takes your computer in, fixes it at the bench and hands it back, so the person you talk to is the person doing the work. Marlena handles the administrative side behind the scenes and keeps the shop organized.
Patrick Donnelly
Trained in Network Systems Administration, seven years at the bench at CD Computers in Spruce Grove, and running Computer Wall since 2022. Patrick does the diagnostics and repairs himself. Outside the shop, he’s boxed at the same club since he was 15.
Marlena Donnelly
More than a decade in customer service and hospitality. Marlena runs the administrative side of Computer Wall behind the scenes, keeping the shop organized so Patrick can stay focused on the bench.
How Computer Wall started
A childhood dream, built the hard way.
Computer Wall started as a dream Patrick had as a kid. He grew up best friends with John Evjen, eldest son of Dale Evjen, who ran Soft Effects just off 50th Street in Stony Plain. They’re still best friends today. Dale had turned his own building into a walk-in shop where he could look after his community, live by his values and still be there for his family. Watching that shop growing up, Patrick knew he wanted one of his own someday.
When Dale passed away in 2022, the Evjen family chose us to carry on his work. Around the same time, CD Computers, where Patrick had spent seven years at the bench, closed for retirement and gave its blessing too. It was time to make the dream real. We had no investors, nothing set aside and only a handful of people who believed in us. What we did have was a passion for helping people with their technology, and that was enough to start.
Like Soft Effects, Computer Wall started from the ground up, in an unfinished building with no heat, no insulation and no floor. We did the work ourselves, from the insulation to the flooring, a piece at a time over the years, until it became the workshop you walk into today.
We still work that way. If your computer has a tough problem, we keep at it until it’s fixed, and if we can’t fix it, you don’t pay. Every customer since 2022 has been earned one repair at a time.
How we got here

- 2022: Computer Wall opensChosen by the Evjen family to carry on Soft Effects’ work, with CD Computers’ blessing as well. A dedicated workshop in Stony Plain, built to stay, run with the same work ethic.

The workshop
A real shop, on purpose.
Computer Wall runs from a dedicated, customer-facing workshop just off 50th Street in Stony Plain. It has its own entrance, exterior signage, parking, a check-in counter, repair benches and room for parts and equipment.
Because we don’t pay retail rent, we can give jobs the time they need, keep a computer for extended testing and work on several machines at once. That’s also why all of our work happens here at the bench rather than on house calls.
Computer Wall is, and always will be, a family business run from our home workshop. We’re not moving, and we’re not going retail. Soft Effects served Stony Plain this way for decades, and Computer Wall is built to do the same.
